A 2 person team structures project

The objective of the assignment was to suspend the wood block on the wood board by any means necessary. Our solution was to support the block entirely from the back to achieve a floating effect.

Origami Inspired Concrete Structure

The assignment was to create a concrete structure that would withstand a load through a folding strategy. Our form was inspired from a simple origami fold and cast out of steel formwork.

Cantilever

A Glue Laminated Sructure

The objective was to create a glue laminated structure that would act as a cantilever. The orb in the center is cast out of resin which can withstand high compressive forces. The cantilever was able to withstand 1150 PSI.

Truss

A Simple Wooden Truss

The objective was to design a structure that would withstand an increasing load with two concentrated focal points. Our solution was to create two simple wood beams that would combine to create a simple truss. The beams are tied together by a thick steel element at the top but the center is completely detached.
